Long week
So, taking a break from the endless job search to give you all an update. Really, seriously, job hunting sucks. Sorry, but I just don't want to do telemarketing. Not at all. Not a bit. So, please quit soliciting me for that junk. I could always work for Jason, but I'm sort of leaning away from that, now that I'm out here. I just don't really want to canvass for right now, it's just not sitting real well with me.
On the plus side, it's currently 74 degrees and sunny. Yeah, jobless and living the life, in the sun. Had an awesome weekend. Let me set this up - so Wednesday night, Lois and I meet up with James and his girlfriend Jee-Hiro, and another MI kid, Jeremy, who I used to hang out with back in the day. We hit up some dive bar for dollar draft night. Everything's a buck, except Guiness, which is two bucks. (You see where this is going). So, over the course of a pretty long night, James, Jeremy and I decide that since we've never seen the redwoods, we need to take off the next day and check them out. So, the next day rolls around, and despite an unfortunate arrest (Jeremy - held and released for public intox), we carry on with the redwood plan. Head on up to Yosemite, arriving at about 3:30 AM. When we get into the park, the area for the giant pines is closed down for the winter. Because, in the mountains, it's 29 degrees and snowy. I, incidentally, am wearing a hoodie, not the warmest item. But, we carry on, set up camp in the snow, and crash out for a few hours. Fortunately, in Yosemite they have bear boxes, where you lock up your food to protect it from bears. Which was necessary apparently, as evidenced by the snorting and grunting early morning style. But, no bear attack, so we got up about 9, broke camp, and headed into Yosemite valley. Beautiful, no other word for it. (Currently unable to load photos, but will add them when I can). Absolutely gorgeous driving down into the valley. Water falls, beautiful mountains and views. You really would have to see it. So, after a whole day of exploring Yosemite valley, we were going to set up camp when we saw a sign "San Francisco 187 Miles". Due to the current temp, we rolled on over towards San Fran, but on the way got a phone call. It was from a San Diego kid that James and Jeremy knew, named Laser. He's a ski bum in Tahoe. So, change of directions, rolled on up to Tahoe and partied with Laser and Ciara for the weekend. Tahoe, beautiful also. Will post some photos of that when I can. Also, cold, but who cares, we were inside at Laser's place, so life was good. Ran on over to the Nevada side of Tahoe and hit up the casino, where all four of us won about $100 a piece. Feelin' good, headed on back to the Cali side and had ourselves a good night out and about.
Next day got rolling early, headed on down to San Diego, about a 10 hour drive. Drove through the central valley of CA, which is quite unique, really. Huge rolling hills / almost mountains, covered in green. No trees or anything, just these beautiful huge hills with a few random cows munching away at the grass. Sweet stuff.
So, yeah, that's the story of the weekend. Here in SD, we're feeling good, getting ourselves settled in. Got a bed, some furniture, pretty much everything else we need besides income. I'm sure that will come fairly soon. Gonna head out tonight and see my other buddy from MI spin some records, so that should be cool as well. You all notice a trend? MI, not so much fun. Not at all. We all bail.
Anyways, that's the update. Life's good, hope it's the same for everybody.
